EEA Seeking Membership Lead

The EEA is Currently Seeking Candidates for its Volunteer Membership Lead position

You are passionate about the environment. You want to make a difference in Evanston. You have time and talent to lend to a non-profit organization. Sound like you? Then consider joining the Board of Directors of the Evanston Environmental Association.

The Evanston Environmental Association is an all-volunteer organization; we have no staff. Consequently, the EEA Board of Directors is a working board, and every member voluntarily takes on specific responsibilities to ensure the organization thrives.

The Evanston Environmental Association board of directors is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill its Membership Lead position. The Membership Lead, like all the EEA board member positions, is a volunteer position. The main focus of this position is to grow the membership of the EEA, increase member retention, and improve the member experience.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Lead efforts to retain existing members by

    • Assessing the current member experience

    • Evaluating the current automated renewal email/invoice system and improving it as needed

    • Identifying and promoting opportunities for members to engage as volunteers

    • Designing and implementing regular communications with members (e.g. in bi-monthly newsletter), including\new member communications (e.g. welcome letter and email/packet)

  2. Grow membership by

    • Evaluating member benefits and proposing new ones

    • Ensuring that EEA effectively communicates the benefits of membership in all EEA events and communications

    • Designing and implementing messaging/marketing campaigns to convert event participants to EEA members

    • Responding to all membership inquiries

    • Regularly tracking and reporting membership growth to the EEA board

  3. Maintain membership records as needed

    • Examine database records to prune out duplicates, inactive accounts

    • Enter data into the CRM for membership check payments

The Membership Lead serves a three-year term (with the option for reelection). We are looking for a responsible, motivated individual with great customer service and communication skills to fill this position. Experience working with Google Drive, Wild Apricot (Personify) or any membership software, and nonprofits is a plus. This job can take up to ten hours a month.

The EEA is a non-profit organization founded in 1976, dedicated to supporting the programs of the Evanston Ecology Center and promoting environmental awareness. Click HERE to visit the EEA's website to learn more.
