The Evanston Environmental Association is an all-volunteer organization; we have no staff. Consequently, the EEA Board of Directors is a working board, and every member voluntarily takes on specific responsibilities to ensure the organization thrives.
The Evanston Environmental Association board of directors is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill its Membership Lead position. The Membership Lead, like all the EEA board member positions, is a volunteer position. The main focus of this position is to grow the membership of the EEA, increase member retention, and improve the member experience.
Responsibilities include:
Lead efforts to retain existing members by
Assessing the current member experience
Evaluating the current automated renewal email/invoice system and improving it as needed
Identifying and promoting opportunities for members to engage as volunteers
Designing and implementing regular communications with members (e.g. in bi-monthly newsletter), including\new member communications (e.g. welcome letter and email/packet)
Grow membership by
Evaluating member benefits and proposing new ones
Ensuring that EEA effectively communicates the benefits of membership in all EEA events and communications
Designing and implementing messaging/marketing campaigns to convert event participants to EEA members
Responding to all membership inquiries
Regularly tracking and reporting membership growth to the EEA board
Maintain membership records as needed
Examine database records to prune out duplicates, inactive accounts
Enter data into the CRM for membership check payments
The Membership Lead serves a three-year term (with the option for reelection). We are looking for a responsible, motivated individual with great customer service and communication skills to fill this position. Experience working with Google Drive, Wild Apricot (Personify) or any membership software, and nonprofits is a plus. This job can take up to ten hours a month.
